The AIPPI INDONESIA GROUP was officially established on 27 August 1998, with the notarial deed No. 80 dated 27 August 1998 under the association’s first President, Prof. Dr. Toeti Heraty Noerhadi-Rooseno, one of the most experienced Indonesian IP practitioner.

The first members of the Executive Boards (1998-…) are:

The AIPPI INDONESIAN GROUP has the same aims and objectives as AIPPI International, with its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, namely, among others, (a) to foster unity and integrity among ors members in carrying out their profession in Intellectual Property Rights; (b) to increase the knowledge and ability of the members in several aspects of the Intellectual Property area; and (c) to support activities for the protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Indonesia.

As a very young association, we are sure that AIPPI INDONESIA GROUP will steadily grow, both in size and experience over the years, especially with the need to have a strong and powerful organization that can be one with the Intellectual Property Association in Indonesia, supporting not only the industry but also the Indonesian Government.

Indonesia has already taken several steps to amend the current Intellectual Property Laws and now has an almost complete set of laws on the Intellectual Property area, namely: The Trade Secret Law, the Industrial Design Law, the Layout of Integrated Circuits Law, the Law on Plant Varieties, the Trademark Law, the Patent Law, and the Copyright Law. In addition to these laws, the government has finalized several draft laws, including the bill on electronic information and the forthcoming optical regulation.

Lastly, the establishment of the AIPPI Indonesia Group website is dedicated to all the members. We hope that this will help in creating better cooperation and understanding among its members so that AIPPI INDONESIA GROUP will fulfill its objectives stated in its articles of association.
